In starting the New Year 2021 with a quest for greater Harmony & Healing both personally and globally, the lyrics to our song FREEDOM began running through my heart & head: “We build walls when we ought to be building bridges, we lose touch when we ought to be holding on, we hold out when we really should be giving, we hold on when we’re holding on to nothing at all.” Given the times we live in, the concept of "Building Bridges" felt so right in so many ways: visually, energetically, and physically. This dreamseed focus coupled with the law of attraction led me to discovering this amazing sculpture created by visionary artist, Lorenzo Quinn entitled: BUILDING BRIDGES. This creative bridge was constructed in May 2019 in Venice, Italy with Quinn's intention to spread a message of unity and peace in a city built on bridges. Sculptor, Lorenzo Quinn's monumental installation includes six pairs of hands that stretch across the basin of the historic Arsenal, joining together to create a bridge of unity at almost 50 feet high and 65 feet wide. BUILDING BRIDGES aims to symbolize people overcoming their differences to build a better world together by building bridges rather than walls and barriers!
“Each pair of the sculpture’s hands celebrate one of six universal human values: LOVE the fundamental purpose for it all; HOPE to persevere in worthwhile endeavors; FAITH to trust in your heart and self-worth; HELP to cement lasting relationships; WISDOM to make mutually beneficial decisions; and FRIENDSHIP to build on the future together,” shares Quinn, who is the son of Oscar-winning actor Anthony Quinn. Each set of hands expresses these values through their touch. Whether lightly brushing or gripping strongly, the groups form an undeniable expression that translates universally. Strength, love, and empathy enshrined in this sculptural group visually articulate Quinn's dream of a world united across cultures. As Quinn expresses: "I wanted to represent the 5 continents and the sixth one - LOVE bringing them all together."
It is the same desire & intention that inspired the song FREEDOM written by Tom & Suchi and it's timeless message expressing the need to "Build Bridges" instead of walls with lyrical cries for Freedom:
FREEDOM from fear, failure, hunger & greed
FREEDOM from jealousy, pride, anger and hypocrisy
FREEDOM from sickness, suffering, ignorance & poverty
FREEDOM from all bondages ...
FREEDOM JUST TO BE!
FREEDOM …. FREEDOM …. FREEDOM
As we embrace a new year overflowing with global, national, and individual challenges, let us remember to look at how our thoughts, words, and deeds are building bridges of Harmony and Healing. We have choices and the choices we make are hopefully filled with a deeper sense of compassion, friendship, and unity!
May Freedom & Justice for ALL continue to bridge the gaps between us fostering more Peace & Unity around the world!
