Where You Want Me

WHERE YOU WANT ME is a song written by Tom Benjamin and recorded as a duet on Suzee “Suchi” Waters Benjamin’s album STEP INTO THE LIGHT. As the lyrics say: “Time alone tells the story and time had been very kind to us!” For that we are deeply grateful and feel blessed to still be playing music and enjoying life together for so many years.

The gift of time offers you a perspective on life which can help you sort through and identify the most pivotal and cherished moments in your life when “looking back.” The gift of song offers a way to express those cherished moments with feelings whose meaning runs deep. Aging, and hopefully “sageing” has shown us that “Music is our Muse” and “Music is our Glue” which bonded us together from the first moment we met in Nashville to this day.

This wedding photo taken in 1978 is another good reminder that "Where You Want Me" is an affirmation of our bond and how our love has stood the test of time: ”You know you’ve got me where you want me, I can tell you it’s alright. You know you’ve got me where you want me, you can find me tonight.”

With Loving Gratitude,

Suchi & Tom

WHERE YOU WANT ME

by Tom Benjamin

I’ve studied the way you talk

I’ve learned all the things that make you laugh

And how you laugh

I’m not above an old line

Or turning an old familiar phrase

To catch your gaze

(CHORUS)

You know you’ve got me where you want me

Where you want me, I can tell you it’s alright

You know you’ve got me where you want me

Where you want me, you can find me tonight

Tonight … Tonight

I take you for granted sometimes

Sometimes I just can’t say what I feel

And I don’t know why

But I’m here to tell you straight out

You’re the best thing that ever came my way

And I’m here to stay

(CHORUS)

Time alone tells the story

And time has been very kind to us

Like a tender touch

(CHORUS)

You know you’ve got me where you want me

Where you want me, I can tell you it’s alright

You know you’ve got me where you want me

Where you want me, you can find me tonight

(tag)

You know you’ve got me where you want me

Still got me where you want me tonight

Tonight … Tonight … Tonight
